Comedy Central has been Philo for a couple of years now, giving cord cutters a cheaper alternative to cable packages offered by Comcast or Spectrum.

What exactly is a live streaming platform?

Companies like Sling TV and Philo offer channels like Comedy Central, FX and ESPN that were once exclusive to cable.

These companies are live streaming channels over the Internet. There are features like Cloud DVR and mobile apps that let you watch on your smartphone.

So whether you want to watch South Park on a Roku or Fire TV Stick without a cable subscription, here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know.

Philo: Watch South Park Online Without Cable

Philo is a streaming service that is dedicated to bringing you just entertainment networks like A&E, Comedy Central, History and HGTV. The bundle of 60 channels costs $20 per month.

Philo works on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV and iPhones. And you can activate the Comedy Central app, and a few dozen other TV Everywhere apps using your Philo account.

A Sling Blue subscription gives you 45+ channels total for $30 per month. Sling Orange gives you 30+ channels for $30 per month.

Depending on which bundle you choose, you can also get live streams of AMC, ESPN, FXX and HGTV.

Cloud DVR is an extra $5 per month for 50 hours.

What is the point of directv having cloud dvr if it is on demand. If it isn’t on demand wouldn’t that be a better solution that cloud dvr?

DirecTV Now doesn’t always have every episode on-demand. So if you want to make sure that you get every episode, having the DVR option takes care of that problem.
