AccuWeather NOW channel expanding with free 24/7 weather coverage

AccuWeather Network has been expanding its free streaming channel since launching in August.

The company’s free streaming channel called AccuWeather Now first launched in the live TV section of The Roku Channel on Aug. 17. 

The channel provides 24/7 global weather coverage, including extreme and natural weather events.

STIRR recently became the latest free streaming service to add AccuWeather Now to its roster of 100+ free live TV channels. AccuWeather Now was added to free, ad-supported streaming services Plex and XUMO in September.

“As AccuWeather NOW continues to expand its availability across platforms, we are thrilled to bring our award-winning content to new audiences, enabling STIRR’s rapidly growing user base to find the most accurate, free weather and climate news,” said Sarah Katt, General Manager of the AccuWeather Network, which streams AccuWeather NOW.

The AccuWeather Network also reported significant growth during 2021 while adding its new streaming service to a number of free platforms. 

The network is now available in 36 million households, according to the company. On Wednesday, the company announced a multi-year deal with Nielsen for cable TV measurement to help identify trends and marketing opportunities. 

The channel AccuWeather Network is available on cable TV and live TV streaming services, including fuboTV, Philo and DIRECTV STREAM. 

Katt said that the content on AccuWeather Now is different from AccuWeather’s other offerings. The company is trying to reach new and younger audiences, including ones that never had a cable TV or satellite subscription.

“Since not everyone has access to cable, and with more people becoming increasingly more invested in weather and its impact to people, communities and businesses, the launch of AccuWeather NOW is a natural extension of our global weather footprint and six decades of expertise,” she said.
