You no longer need a cable subscription to watch the Dallas Stars this NHL season.

The team ended its relationship with Diamond Sports Group in July. Now, local fans can watch Stars games live on Victory+, a free streaming service.

This change is a huge win for cord-cutters. For years, hockey fans had to subscribe to streaming services like DIRECTV Stream or Fubo to access Bally Sports Regional Networks. Now, in-market fans have a new, free option.

The Stars are part of a trend, with other teams also shifting their broadcast models. The Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers moved to Scripps Sports, while the Stars and Anaheim Ducks chose Victory+ for regional streaming.

For the 2024-25 Dallas Stars season, color analyst Daryl “Razor” Reaugh and play-by-play announcer Josh Bogorad return, with extended coverage hosted by Brien Rea and former NHL player Brent Severyn.

Streaming Stars Games on Victory+

Victory+ is available for viewers in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas, where fans can stream all Stars games.

The only games not on Victory+ will be the 14 Stars matchups picked for national broadcasts on ESPN, ABC, TNT, or ESPN+.

Victory+ airs all regional Stars games for free, with the only cost being the commercial breaks. Fans can stream the Victory+ app on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, and many Smart TVs from VIZIO, Vidaa, LG, and Samsung.

The Victory+ mobile app is also available for Apple iOS and Android devices. Games come with live pregame and postgame shows for both home and away matchups.

Streaming Ducks Games Out of Market

If you don’t live in one of the four states that make up the Stars home TV market, you can still access on-demand Dallas Stars content through Victory+, but live games require a subscription to ESPN+.

National broadcasts will be available on ESPN, ABC, TNT, and SportsNet in Canada. Fans outside the market can subscribe to ESPN+ for $10.99 per month.

ESPN+ subscribers can watch via the ESPN app on Smart TVs and major streaming devices. You can also use the “watch from start” feature if you join a game late, and games are available on-demand for 72 hours due to NHL regulations.

Victory+ makes regional games accessible without barriers, offering a low-latency feed and high ad-fill rate for a smooth viewing experience. It’s a big change from the cable days, and one that makes watching your favorite team easier and cheaper than ever.
