How to Watch The Weather Channel Live on Roku, Fire TV Stick
The Weather Channel is one of those cable TV staples that isn’t so common with live TV streaming services.
The smallest (and cheapest) streaming service that live streams The Weather Channel is frndlyTV. It has 15 “family-friendly” live TV channels, including all three Hallmark Channels starting at $5.99 per month. The Classic plan streams in HD quality for $7.99 per month.

If you’re searching for a true cable TV replacement, then fuboTV is a better bet.
fuboTV has 120+ channels including ESPN, HGTV and History for $64.99 per month. Subscribers get 250 hours of Cloud DVR. It’s the only live TV service that streams live sports in 4K (see schedule), and lets you activate dozens of apps on your streaming device.
You can see what local and regional sports channels fuboTV carries in your area. fuboTV has a free 7-day trial with no obligations. The service lets you easily cancel online with no contracts or commitments.
About The Weather Channel and Local on the 8s
The Weather Channel launched on May 2, 1982, and really gained traction because it became a favorite for segments such as Local on the 8s.
It shows viewers the current weather and forecasts for their local area. The name of the segment comes from the timing of the segment throughout the hour (e.g. Broadcasts come at 12:08, 12:18, 12:28, etc.).
TWC’s approach to live weather coverage became novel in the 24/7 news cycle driven by cable TV, especially when Cantore was reporting from the eye of a hurricane or massive weather event.
Watch The Weather Channel on fuboTV
fuboTV has The Weather Channel in its entry-level Family plan. It has 120+ channels, including ESPN, A&E, History, ACC Network, HGTV, all three Hallmark Channels, TLC and Paramount Network.
fuboTV carries local ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC stations in most of the U.S. Subscribers to the Family plan get 250 hours of Cloud DVR.
There are select live sporting events and entertainment shows in 4K. fuboTV maintains a vast library of on-demand movies and TV shows. If you miss a game, you can use fubo’s look-back section, which has sporting events that aired in the last 72 hours.
Subscribers can activate more than 40 apps for channels that are in your lineup. A subscription costs $64.99 per month. You can watch live TV on up to three screens at once.
fuboTV works on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku and Android TV devices such as Google Chromecast. There are mobile apps for iPhones and Android smartphones if you are away from home.
Stream The Weather Channel Live on frndlyTV
frndlyTV has three plans all with the same channel lineup. The differences come down to picture resolution, number of simultaneous live streams and DVR recordings.
The $5.99 per month “Basic” plan has only SD picture resolution, and you can watch on one screen at a time. The Classic plan costs $7.99 per month, upgrades to HD picture resolution and lets you watch on two screens at once. You can keep recordings on the Cloud DVR for up to three months.
The Premium plan costs $9.99 per month. It allows up four screens at once, and you can keep recordings up to 9 months. frndlyTV has a free 7-day trial.
AT&T TV Now: The Weather Channel
AT&T TV has The Weather Channel. But the price point makes it the most expensive option.
The $84.99 per month Choice plan has 90+ channels, including CNN, ESPN and Nickelodeon. Subscribers get HBO Max included for one year.
The best way to subscribe is through the no-contract option. AT&T TV works on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.
There is a free 7-day trial for new customers.
Does Hulu have The Weather Channel?
No. Hulu + Live TV carries 65+ live TV channels, including ESPN, HGTV and local ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox stations. Hulu’s live TV service includes 50 hours of Cloud DVR and costs $64.99 per month.
Subscribers get unlimited access to Hulu’s on-demand streaming service that people usually pay $5.99 per month for. Hulu + Live TV has a free 7-day trial that you can use even if you subscribe Hulu on-demand.
Is The Weather Channel app free on Roku or elsewhere?
If you’ve tried to activate The Weather Channel app without a cable subscription, then you’ve run into signing in through weathergroup.com.
No live TV streaming service currently supports activating The Weather Channel app, and you can’t live stream from The Weather Channel website. The live stream on the site is currently under construction.
There really isn’t a decent, legal workaround for people who want access to The Weather Channel app without cable. But there is one alternative that streams Local on the 8s from The Weather Channel.
For a quick local forecast from The Weather Channel, add the Local Now app to a Roku, Fire TV or other major streaming device. It doesn’t require any activation or streaming subscription. Local Now is owned by The Weather Channel’s parent company.
Under the weather section of the app, you will find a local forecast that’s pretty much the “Local on the 8s” that’s on The Weather Channel. That might be just enough for your Weather Channel fix if you can get by without Cantore.
