How to Watch Boston Celtics Live Stream Without Cable

Watch Celtics Live Stream Online

DirecTV Now and fuboTV are two ways that New England sports fans can watch the Boston Celtics live without cable.

The rules have changed when it comes to watching local sports teams. NESN used to be a cable-only network. But now you can live stream NESN without subscribing to Comcast or Spectrum.

This guide will show you how to do the same with NBC Sports Boston and TNT so you can watch all Boston Celtics games.

Learn how to live stream and kick your pricey cable subscription to the curb. All you need is a Roku or another streaming device to watch games on your TV. By using a live TV streaming service, you’ll also be able to watch Celtics games live on your iPhone or tablet.

How do I live stream Celtics games?

All you need to do is replace your cable or satellite subscription with a live TV streaming service.

Here’s how it works.

Instead of Comcast piping in live sports channels into your home over a cable cord, you’ll be live streaming these same live channels over the Internet. The best way to replace your Comcast or Spectrum subscription long term is to learn how to pay less for Internet.

The key channel you need to watch the Boston Celtics is NBC Sports Boston, but some games air on TNT as well. So I’ll show you the best live streaming TV platforms that carry both channels in New England. You just need a Roku, Amazon Fire Stick or other popular streaming device to watch live sports on your TV.

DirecTV Now: Boston Celtics Live Stream at home or mobile

DirecTV Now has four different channel bundles, but you only need the cheapest to live stream Boston Celtics’ games.

NBC Sports Boston and TNT are part of a 60+ channel lineup that costs $35 per month. ESPN, ESPN2, FS1 are among the other sports channels included. You’ll find A&E, AMC and Investigation Discovery. Adding HBO only costs an extra $5 per month.

DirecTV Now works on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and a number of other streaming devices. You can also watch live streams of channels on a PC, iPhone or Android smartphone. For local channels, you’ll get ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC. A couple of other cool things: You can use your DirecTV Now account to sign in to roughly 40 or so apps, including the NBC Sports app. So that gives you even more access to a live stream and on-demand sports shows.

DirecTV Now offers a free 7-day trial. Prepay for one month of service and get an Amazon Fire TV. Prepay for three months and get an  Apple TV.

fuboTV: Watch Boston Celtics Live Stream Online

fuboTV has pulled together dozens of sports channels, including local ones like NESN, NESN Plus and NBC Sports Boston. Unfortunately, fuboTV doesn’t have TNT in its channel lineup for those occasion Celtics games that air on the network.

But on fuboTV, you’ll find NBA TV, NFL Network, NCAA Basketball and FS1 as part of a 80+ channel lineup. A&E, History, HGTV, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Travel Channel are among the entertainment channels. And you’ll get 30 hours of Cloud DVR. A “Lookback” feature shows games that were played within the last 72 hours. There’s plenty of soccer too on beIN Sports.

fuboTV is expanding its local NBC, FOX and CBS channel lineup. And in New England, you’ll get WBZ (CBS), FOX 25, My38, NECN, NBC Boston and NBCSN.  fuboTV has apps for Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android TV devices.

The regular price is $39.99, but new customers can get their first month for $19.99.

You can check out a free 7-day trial, but if you’re going to do that, you should add Showtime for free. Keep it, and it will cost an additional $10.99 per month. Just cancel before the end of your free trial if you decide the service is not for you.

Youtube TV: Watch Boston Celtics online with NBC Sports Boston

YouTube TV offers 40+ channels for $35 per month, including local gems NBC Sports Boston and NESN. It’s an attractive channel lineup that includes FOX, FX, FS1, FS2, ESPN, USA and AMC. YouTube TV does not currently have TNT in its channel lineup, so there’s a small hole in overall Celtics coverage.

YouTube has a bright, clear picture. For now, there’s support on a limited number of devices, including Chromecast, Apple TV via Airplay, Android mobile devices and NVIDIA Shield TV.

There’s unlimited Cloud DVR and up to 6 accounts per household. My review of YouTube TV gives a more detailed overview of the service. YouTube TV offers a 14-day free trial.

PlayStation Vue: Watch Celtics Live Stream Without Cable

PlayStation Vue offers a number of national and local sports channels including NBC Sports Boston. The Core plan, priced at $44.99 per month, has about 62+ channels. FS1, FS2, ESPN, NBA TV and TNT are included in the channel bundle. There’s unlimited Cloud DVR, and you can watch on up to five devices at once.

One drawback of PlayStation Vue is that you’re largely required to stay put. You have to watch your games at home using PlayStation Vue’s interface. PlayStation Vue has apps for Roku, Fire TV and Android TV devices. You can also live stream Cetlics games on a PC, or smartphone. PlayStation Vue offers a free 5-day trial.

Hulu With Live TV has a Celtics Live Stream

Hulu with Live TV has more than 50 live channels for $40 per month including NBC Sports Boston and TNT. A&E, Bravo, Disney Channel, FX and Smithsonian Channel are included in the lineup. Local ABC, CBS and FOX channels in the Boston market are included. You get 50 hours of Cloud DVR as part of your subscription.

Hulu with Live TV works with Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast and Xbox gaming consoles. You can check out a free 7-day trial.

Can I watch the Boston Celtics on Sling TV?

At the moment, Sling TV doesn’t have NBC Sports Boston, which carries the most Celtics games. You can watch about 21 games on the Sling Orange throughout the season on TNT and ESPN. Sling Orange costs $20 per month. Roku, Amazon Fire TV and just about any other streaming device has an app for Sling TV.

You can try Sling TV free for 7-days.

If you join DirecTV Now, PlayStation Vue or fuboTV, then you’ll also be able to use your username and password to sign in to the NBC Sports app. That might be useful if you want to watch a live stream outside of your home. That said, DirecTV Now and fuboTV have decent mobile apps so you probably don’t need it for those services.

What’s the best way to live stream Boston Celtics’ games?

DirecTV Now currently gives you the most value for $35 per month. You get 60+ channels including NBC Sports Boston and TNT with the most device support. So if you want to watch a game at home through your Roku, or with your iPhone on the road, you can do that.

Check out the free 7-day trial with DirecTV Now, or get an Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV when you prepay for service.

With fuboTV, you can include Showtime in your free trial, which lasts for 7-days. fuboTV will get you 80+ channels including NESN and NESN Plus, and local FOX and NBC stations. The first month is $19.99 before going up to the regular rate of $39.99 per month.

  1. PS Vue does let you watch Celtics/Sox/Bruins away from your home network. You just have to log in and stream on your home network once with the device you want to use. Then you are able to stream whenever and wherever with that device.
