The Best Cyber Monday Deals for Cord Cutters
A few years ago, when I started this blog, finding Cyber Monday deals for cord cutters was pretty difficult. This year, there are a number of deals on streaming devices, TV antennas and discounts on streaming services.
Here is a round-up of some of the best.
Hulu for $1.99 per month
The best deal this weekend might be with Hulu on-demand. New and returning subscribers can get Hulu for $1.99 per month for a whole year. (The deal expires on Tuesday.)
Even if you don’t pick up this deal, expect to hear a lot more about Hulu in 2020.
In March, FX on Hulu makes its debut. FX is expected to deliver four new original shows for Hulu, including The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges. Bridges plays a retired CIA officer in the series. What else do you need?
By the way, I recently discussed what’s happening on Hulu in 2020 in my latest YouTube video, which covers how you can get the Disney+ bundle. The bundle includes Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ for $12.99 per month. As explained in the video, you can also get Hulu no-ads for $6 more if you follow my step-by-step guide.
$10 off Disney+ subscription
If you’ve been holding out for a discount on a Disney+ subscription, now might be a good time to scoop one up.
For today only, you can get $10 off your first year of Disney+ by purchasing an annual subscription for $59.99. The offer is only available in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
You can look over the $10 off deal for this current Disney+ offer. You can still bundle Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99 per month as well. Here is a video that breaks down what you get with the Disney+ bundle.
fuboTV offers $10 off first month
fuboTV is the unsung dark horse among streaming services that offer live TV.
The basic package offers 100+ channels, pulling together entertainment networks such as HGTV, and TNT, regional sports channels and news networks such as CNN.
This deal was inspired by the shuttering of PlayStation Vue, but anyone can get the discounted first month. Look over the channel lineup before deciding if you want to sign up and give it a try.
Philo: Get a Free Fire Stick with 6 Month Subscription
Philo offers 58 channels for $20 per month. I’ve been subscribing since December 2017.
It’s an excellent way to supplement your channel lineup with A&E, History, HGTV and dozens of other entertainment channels.
If you sign up for six months, Philo will give you a free 4K Fire TV Stick. An Amazon Fire Stick costs $50 on its own, so deals like this are a nice way to stretch your dollar.
Amazon Channels for 50 percent off
Epix at $2.99 per month? Britbox at $3.49 per month? Yep, that’s what Amazon Channels looks like at 50 percent off. Amazon is offering the half-off discount for select “channels” for the first three months. You need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to get Amazon Channels. Don’t have one? Amazon Prime has a free 30-day trial.
HARDWARE DEALS FOR CYBER MONDAY
The Roku Ultra is half off — for just $48. The Ultra is my most frequently recommended device for friends and family who are cutting the cord because of its simple interface and 4K HDR Streaming chops.
Last year, I picked one up for a friend. Since then, I’ve installed Ultras at my parent’s house and my aunt and uncle’s place after they both cut the cord and jumped into streaming.
Amazon Fire Stick 4K for $24.99
The Amazon Fire Stick 4K is usually $50, and offers Dolby Vision support. The remote controls volume and Alexa-voice support.
You can also pick up the latest model of the Amazon Fire TV Cube for $89.99, which is great for hands-free voice commands.
I’ve been working on a new video covering the best OTA DVRs this week, and the Cube continues to impress — especially given that I can turn on the Cube and tune into an over-the-air channel by saying, “Alexa, tune to NBC.”
The Fire TV Recast is also on sale for $119. You can watch my video on the Recast if you want to see how it works.
