The Anaheim Ducks are no longer tied to cable for the 2024-2025 NHL season.
After their breakup with Bally Sports, local fans can now watch live Ducks games on Fox 11 Plus or stream on Victory+. Both options are free. This change is a win for cord-cutters. In prior seasons, hockey fans paid up to $80 per month for Bally Sports SoCal through services like DIRECTV STREAM and Fubo.
Anaheim’s contract with Diamond Sports Group ended after the 2023-24 season. The Ducks are among a number of teams that changed their broadcast model away from regional sports networks.
The Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers moved to Scripps Sports, while the Dallas Stars will also stream regionally on Victory+.
Over-the-air games will be on Fox 11 Plus (KCOP Channel 13). The KCOP tower is on Mount Wilson. Los Angeles residents should point their antennas in that direction. KCOP broadcasts on UHF.
The Victory+ streaming app is available for smart TVs, streaming devices such as Roku, tablets, and smartphones.
It allows Ducks fans in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, as well as Hawaii, to watch games. It is a free, ad-supported service.
Watching the Ducks on FOX 11 Plus (KCOP Channel 13)
If you are within 20 miles of Mount Wilson, you can likely get KCOP with an indoor leaf-style antenna from Mohu or Antennas Direct.
You will want a medium gain indoor TV antenna.
Gain refers to an antenna’s ability to amplify signals, typically ranging from 5 to 15 dB. Look for antennas in this range when shopping. Avoid low-gain antennas like bunny ears.
An outdoor TV antenna on your roof or in your attic will give the best reception.
FOX 11 Plus will televise 65 Ducks games over-the-air in the local TV market.
Ducks games on FOX 11 Plus feature Brian Hayward as the analyst for his 31st season. John Ahlers will be the play-by-play announcer in his 23rd season. Aly Lozoff will host throughout the season, with Guy Hebert returning as studio host.
Victory+
Victory+ is a free, ad-supported streaming service that airs all regional Anaheim Ducks games.
Local fans can stream all games free on Victory+ on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Google TV devices. You can get the Victory+ mobile app on Apple iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
Victory+ is expected to be on a number of Smart TVs from VIZIO, Vidaa, LG and Samsung.
All Victory+ games will include exclusive live shows before and after home and road telecasts.
Lozoff will lead discussions, joined by Hebert and Hayward for analysis. Lozoff will also provide updates during each broadcast. Victory+ is available for download on smart TVs, tablets, and smartphones.
Victory+ makes games accessible without barriers. It offers a low-latency feed and high ad-fill rate for a superior experience.
Out-of-Market Fans
Fans outside the market need to subscribe to ESPN+ to watch Ducks games. A subscription costs $11.99 per month. Nationally broadcast games will air on ESPN, ABC, TNT, and SportsNet in Canada.
Subscribers can watch ESPN+ through the ESPN app across supported Smart TVs and major streaming devices such as Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
You can ‘watch from start’ if you join a game late. Games will also be available for 72 hours on-demand. After 72 hours, games will be removed due to NHL regulations.
