As the trend of cutting the cable cord continues, fans of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals are increasingly seeking ways to watch Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) without cable.

MASN is a key player in the realm of regional sports networks (RSNs), bringing localized, passionate coverage to fans. MASN provides a 24-hour channel filled with collegiate sports events, local and national programming, and of course, the much-anticipated Orioles and Nationals games.

While you won’t find MASN on YouTube TV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, or Fubo, DIRECTV STREAM enables Orioles and Nationals fans to watch their favorite teams anytime across cable TV and broadcast networks.

Recommended: For those die-hard Orioles fans or Nationals enthusiasts adamant about not missing a single game, the DIRECTV STREAM Choice plan is the straightforward solution to follow your teams without a cable package. No matter what games you want to watch, a DIRECTV STREAM subscription gives you more than just MASN.

Baseball fans will have coverage from FOX, FS1, TBS, ABC, and ESPN. DIRECTV STREAM offers a commitment-free 5-day free trial.

Instead of just local games offered on cable or the MASN app, DIRECTV STREAM Choice has more than 105 television channels, including local broadcast networks and specialty channels.

The Choice plan isn’t your only choice. Fans can also get MASN through other packages such as DIRECTV STREAM Ultimate.

I have been guiding sports fans with how to watch their favorite sports networks since I cut the cord in 2016. In this guide, I am rounding up your all your choices for getting MASN in 2024 without a cable provider.

What is MASN?

Launched in 2006, MASN has swiftly become a cornerstone in regional sports networks, particularly known for its comprehensive coverage of baseball.

As the television home of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals, MASN brings the excitement of America’s pastime directly to fans across the region.  It covers an extensive broadcast area, including Maryland, Washington, D.C., Delaware, and Virginia.

MASN provides a 24-hour channel filled with collegiate sports events, local and national programming, and of course, the much-anticipated Orioles and Nationals games.

Choice

The DIRECTV STREAM Choice plan has over 105 channels at $108.99 per month. This plan includes not only MASN and MASN2 but also an extensive lineup of regional and national sports networks such as ESPN, ESPN2, MLB Network, and Monumental Sports Network. There is comprehensive local channel coverage including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Telemundo, and Univision.

In addition to sports, DIRECTV STREAM’s Choice bundle boasts a wide variety of top cable TV channels including TNT, History, CNN, and A&E.

Ultimate

For those seeking even more sports content, the Ultimate Plan at $119.99 per month adds channels like CBS Sports Network, FS1, FS2, Golf Channel, and NHL Network, offering an extensive range of viewing options for sports aficionados. This package is designed to meet the needs of diverse sports fans, from golf enthusiasts to hockey followers, ensuring access to year-round sports action.

Premier

At the pinnacle of DIRECTV STREAM’s offerings is the Premier Plan at $164.99 per month, the most comprehensive package available. It includes all the channels from the Ultimate Plan and adds prestigious networks like Max, SHOWTIME, Cinemax, and STARZ.

For sports lovers, the Premier Plan includes additional channels like NBA TV and Tennis Channel, further extending the sports coverage.

What is MASN2?

The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals games sometimes happen at or around the same time. To deal with the overlap, MASN has a second network called MASN2, which also shows live in-market games. MASN2 is also included in DIRECTV STREAM’s Choice, Ultimate and Premier packages.

Can I use the MASN app to watch live MLB games?

There isn’t a standalone streaming service for MASN available for cord-cutters at this time.

MASN now offers live streams of its channels, MASN and MASN2, through its website and the newly launched MASN mobile app.

However, to access these live streams, you need to have an existing subscription to a cable or satellite service that includes MASN in their lineup. DIRECTV STREAM subscribers can also use the MASN app.

This means that if you’re considering cutting the cord and don’t currently have a subscription with a participating provider, you won’t be able to use the MASN app or website to watch games.

If you already have MASN through a cable or satellite provider, you can extend your viewership to your mobile devices or computer by using the MASN app. Simply download the app, and authenticate by logging in with your cable or satellite provider’s credentials. This will allow you to watch Orioles and Nationals baseball on-the-go.

It’s important to note that while MASN is striving to make this feature available to all its viewers, the capability to authenticate the app isn’t available from all providers immediately.

As of now, subscribers of Armstrong, Bay Country Communications, Breezeline, Co-Mo Connect, Cox, DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, Easton Velocity, Lumos Networks, Mediacom, Scout, Spectrum, Verizon Fios, and Xfinity can use the MASN app.
