Who is participating in the 2023 Home Run Derby?

There have been few announcements about which players are going to be in this year’s Home Run Derby. The full roster of participants for the HR Derby will be unveiled July 5, 7 p.m. ET when ESPN broadcasts the “T-Mobile Home Run Derby Bracket Show.”

So far, Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. announced he is taking part in this year’s competition. Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez, the 2022 American League Rookie of the Year, likewise announced he is participating in the Derby.

Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani just broke another record held by baseball legend Babe Ruth. So hopefully, we will see Ohtani at the Derby. Ohtani has the distinction of being the first pitcher and Japanese player to participate in the Derby tournament in 2021.

New York Yankees Captain Aaron Judge, a 2017 Derby winner, is designated as a starting outfielder for the All-Star Game this year, but will likely not play due to a toe injury.

Could the New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, who won the 2019 Derby, get added to the roster of sluggers? We will have to wait and see.
