How to Watch HGTV Without Cable

November 13, 2020 by Jim KimbleLeave a Comment

How to Watch HGTV Online

Today, you’re going to quickly learn how to watch HGTV without cable using a Roku and other popular streaming devices.

The cheapest way to watch HGTV live is with Philo, a live TV streaming service that costs only $20 per month for 63 channels. There are no contracts with Philo, and you can try the service free for a week.

Philo essentially gives you a simpler version of a cable TV bundle. You can activate the HGTV app, or hgtv.com with your subscription. But all of that content will be in the on-demand section of Philo as well.

So you’ll be able to watch HGTV live and stream on-demand episodes of Dream Home, Urban Oasis, Fixer Upper, House Hunters and any other show that’s on HGTV.

Philo is among a number of cord cutting optionsthat you can use instead of Comcast, Spectrum or satellite providers like DIRECTV.

With a live TV streaming service, you are essentially watching HGTV online. You’ll just need a streaming device like a Roku, Fire TV Stick or Apple TV to watch your live channels on a television.

Most of these streaming services below also support watching on a PC, smart phone or game consoles like Xbox One or PlayStation.

And they’re much cheaper than cable TV. If you end up replacing your cable subscription, there are a number of ways to get a reasonably priced Internet connection without cable too.

New Shows on HGTV to Watch

HGTV has already announced 13 new series and three pilots for 2021.

Home Again With the Fords stars the brother-sister duo that helps clients renovate their childhood homes.

Last year, siblings Leanne and Steve Ford found a new calling in home design and the show Restored by the Fords starts off with quirky homes being remade in the Pittsburgh area.

In Everything but the House, Lara Spencer and her team helps families declutter their houses, and find items to auction off.

Meanwhile, some old favorites are returning too, including Island Life, Property Brothers and Fixer Upper.

Philo: Live Stream HGTV Online

Philo keeps its price low by not offering sports or local channels.

But you’ll find all three Hallmark channels.

A&E, History, Investigation Discovery, BBC America and Sundance TV are part of the 63 channel lineup. There is unlimited Cloud DVR to record shows and a huge catalog of on-demand content.

Philo lets you activate apps for most of your channels. This is known as TV Everywhere access.

So if you miss a new episode, you have two ways of playing catch up. Philo’s on-demand library has new and older episodes of shows.

Or just download the HGTV app to your Roku, activate it with your Philo credentials and start watching episodes.

Philo carries other popular channels such as American Heroes Channel, Destination America, Discovery Family and MTV Live. You can look over Philo’s channel lineup.

Philo has a 7-day free trial with no contracts or obligations. If you don’t like the service, you can easily cancel online whenever you want.

Philo works on Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV devices. You can also watch on iPhones and PCs.

Watch HGTV Online with Sling TV

Sling TV carries HGTV in its two channel bundles known as Sling Orange and Sling Blue.

The Orange bundle has 30 channels, including ESPN, AMC, CNN, TNT and Epix Drive-In.

Sling Blue has about 43 channels, including NBC, FOX, NFL Network, USA, Bravo and Food Network.

You can subscribe to the Orange or Blue channel bundles for $30 per month. Get 10 hours of Cloud DVR for free or 50 hours for $5 per month.

There are a number of other add-ons for comedy, sports and news. Sling TV offers a free 3-day trial. Cancel online if you don’t like the service. Sling TV supports live streaming on Roku, Fire TV devices, Apple TV, Android TV, PCs and smart phones.

fuboTV: Watch HGTV online without cable

fuboTV, a sports streaming platform, has HGTV in its entry-level subscription which has about 100+ channels.

But fubo isn’t just about live sports. It now dubs itself as a “cable replacement” because of its robust lineup of entertainment and news networks, including A&E, CNN, Bravo, Oxygen Network, Food Network, AMC and two Hallmark Channels.

fuboTV has local NBC, CBS and FOX channels in most of the U.S. You can look over what local channels and regional sports channels are available in your area.

Subscribers get 30 hours of Cloud DVR. Just like with Philo, you can sign in to dozens of TV Everywhere apps, including the HGTV app. fuboTV supports Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android TV devices. The service has a solid mobile app for iPhone and Android smartphones. And you can watch on your PC.

A subscription costs $59.99 per month. fuboTV has a free trial that lasts a week.

Hulu with Live TV costs $64.99 per month. As a subscriber, you also get unlimited access to Hulu’s other on-demand streaming service that people usually pay $5.99 per month for.

That includes popular Hulu Originals like The Handmaid’s Tale and Castle Rock. So you’re really getting two streaming services for the price of one. Look over Hulu’s channel lineup for live TV. You can stream Hulu with Live TV on a Roku, Apple TV, Fire Stick or smart phone.

Hulu + Live TV has a free trial that lasts a week.

Stream HGTV on Vidgo

Vidgo carries HGTV as part of its 85+ channel live TV lineup. A&E, ESPN, History channel and Science Channel are among some of Vidgo’s most popular channels.

Does YouTube TV have HGTV?

YouTube TV has a robust channel lineup with networks like ESPN, AMC and CNN.

Subscribers get 85+ channels and unlimited Cloud DVR for $64.99 per month. YouTube TV works with Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV devices such as the new Google Chromecast. YouTube TV has a free 7-day trial for new customers.

What’s the Best Way to Watch HGTV Without Cable?

Philo is the best live TV option for watching HGTV on the cheap.

A subscription gets you 63 live TV channels and unlimited Cloud DVR.

So if you want an easy way to watch favorites like House Hunters International without a pricey Comcast subscription, I suggest trying Philo freefor a week. You will also be able to activate the HGTV app on your Roku and other streaming devices.

Sling TV has HGTV in both of its channel bundles for $30 per month. You can get a decent mix of sports, entertainment and movie channels. You can try Sling TV free for a week.
