How to Watch Boston Celtics Live Stream Without Cable

By Jim Kimble on October 26, 2019 1:29 pm

Stream Celtics games live online without cable

If you want to watch the Boston Celtics live without cable, the best choice right now is fuboTV. The streaming service isn’t your only option, but it’s what I prefer for watching the Celts.

I’ll review more choices for streaming NBA games live on a Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV below.

The rules have changed when it comes to watching local sports teams. NESN used to be a cable-only network for watching the Red Sox and Boston Bruins when the teams played at home. But now you can live stream NESN without subscribing to Comcast or Spectrum.

This guide will show you how to do the same with networks like ESPN, NBC Sports and TNT so you can watch all Boston Celtics games without paying for Xfinity, Comcast, DIRECTV or Spectrum.

All you need is a Roku or another streaming device to watch games on your TV. By using a live TV streaming service, you’ll also be able to watch Celtics games live on your iPhone or tablet. The best way to replace your Comcast or Spectrum subscription long term is to learn how to pay less for Internet.

Watch Boston Celtics Live with fuboTV

fuboTV has pulled together dozens of sports channels, including local ones like NESN, NESN Plus and NBC Sports Boston.

In New England, you’ll get WBZ (CBS), FOX 25, My38, NECN, NBC Boston and NBCSN among the 100+ channel lineup. Unfortunately, fuboTV does not carry ESPN.

Otherwise, you’ll find a full roster of key networks — TNT, NBA TV, NFL Network, FS1 and FS2. A&E, History, HGTV, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Travel Channel are among the entertainment channels.

You’ll get 30 hours of Cloud DVR. A “Lookback” feature shows games that were played within the last 72 hours. There’s plenty of soccer too on beIN Sports. And you can watch select live sports in 4K HDR resolution.

fuboTV has apps for Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android TV devices.

A subscription costs $54.99 per month. You can look over the local channel lineup or sign up for a free 7-day trial without any obligations.

Just cancel before the end of your free trial if you decide the service is not for you.

Runner up: Hulu With Live TV has a Celtics Live Stream

Hulu with Live TV has about 65+ live channels, 50 hours of Cloud DVR and full access to the on-demand library. A subscription costs $54.99 per month. Subscribers get NBC Sports Boston, TNT, A&E, Bravo, Disney Channel, FX and Smithsonian Channel.

Local ABC, CBS and FOX channels in the Boston market are included. You get access to Hulu’s massive on-demand library, and Hulu Originals like “The Handmaid’s Tale”. So you’re really getting two different services for the price of one when you compare Hulu Live TV offering to other live TV streaming services.

Look over Hulu’s channel lineup in your area to see if it’s a good fit for you.

Hulu with Live TV works with Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast and Xbox gaming consoles. There’s no contract or obligation to keep the service if it’s not a right fit for you.

AT&TV Now: Boston Celtics Live Stream Online

AT&T TV Now carries NBC Sports Boston, ESPN and TNT in the Plus channel bundle. Plus has 45+ channels for $65 per month.

ESPN, ESPN2, FS1 and HBO are among the other sports channels included.

AT&T TV Now works on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and a number of other streaming devices.

You can also watch live streams of channels on a PC, iPhone or Android smartphone. For local channels, you’ll get ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

AT&T TV Now offers a free 7-day trial.

Youtube TV: Watch Boston Celtics online without cable

YouTube TV offers 65+ channels for $49.99 per month, including local gems NBC Sports Boston and NESN.

It’s an attractive channel lineup that includes FOX, FX, FS1, FS2, ESPN, TNT, USA and AMC.

YouTube has a bright, clear picture. There are apps for Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, Android mobile devices and NVIDIA Shield TV.

There’s unlimited Cloud DVR and up to 6 accounts per household. YouTube offers a free trial.

Can I watch the Boston Celtics on Sling TV?

At the moment, Sling TV doesn’t have NBC Sports Boston, which carries the most Celtics games. You can watch about 21 games on the Sling Orange throughout the season on TNT and ESPN. Sling Orange costs $25 per month. Roku, Amazon Fire TV and just about any other streaming device has an app for Sling TV.

You can try Sling TV free for 7-days.

Can I use NBC SPORTS APP to watch live sports?

Yes, there can one or more live stream that have NBA games and other sports depending on where you live. But you need a pay-TV subscription in order to tap into the live streams. If you join AT&T TV Now, Hulu with Live TV, PlayStation Vue or fuboTV, then you’ll also be able to use your username and password to sign in to the NBC Sports app. That might be useful if you want to watch a live stream outside of your home.

What’s the best way to stream Celtics’ games?

If you also want other local sports channels like NESN, try out fuboTV free for a week.

fuboTV has local FOX, NBC and CBS stations alongside premium channels like NFL Network. You can look over the local channel lineup before deciding whether to try it out. fuboTV works on Roku, Apple TV, Firestick and Fire TV devices. There is a solid mobile app, too.

Hulu with Live TV is one of the best values out there to stream Celtics’ games live without cable. You’re getting about 65+ live channels and unlimited access to its vast on-demand library including Hulu Originals like “The Handmaid’s Tale” or “The Path.” So you’re getting two streaming services for the same price as a number of competitors

Look over Hulu’s Live TV channel lineup to get a better idea of what’s offered in your area.

I had Fubo for over a year to watch Revolution matches (NBCSports Boston too) and was very satisfied with the streaming service, but their fees kept going up. I’m switching to YouTube TV this season because it’s a little cheaper.

I had slingtv recently and it seems as though you can add the sports channel on top of regular programming with sling to watch all of Celtics games. Its a regional sports channel for Celtics. However, I did not care for the formatting of the sling program. It seems to have issues.

    Re DirecTV Now:

“NBC Sports Boston, ESPN and TNT are part of a 60+ channel lineup that costs $35 per month.”

This bit is flat out wrong. I just signed up for DirecTV Now in the hopes of getting Boston Celtics games all season, but when I did, I couldn’t find access to NBC Sports Boston.

I chatted with a customer service agent. It turns out, NBC Sports Boston is a Regional Sports Network that’s only available in the $50/mo package, not the $35/mo package.

Your article needs to be corrected.

Sorry to hear about that, Eugene. If that’s so, DTVN needs to correct it’s own site.

      See: http://cdn.directv.com/content/dam/dtv/gmott/html/compare-packages-account.html

      I’ll follow up on this.

Greetings from South Carolina. Local options include only southern sports networks as of January 2019. Please understand that not everyone reading this is from New England. I have yet to *truly* find all 82 games from any one service – someone please correct me if I’ve missed an option. #CelticsNation.

PS Vue does let you watch Celtics/Sox/Bruins away from your home network. You just have to log in and stream on your home network once with the device you want to use. Then you are able to stream whenever and wherever with that device.
