Watching “The Walking Dead” live without cable is getting a lot easier, and so isn’t catching up on old episodes.
This definitive guide on how to watch or live stream The Walking Dead will help you catch up on all the episodes including prior seasons.
“The Walking Dead” is one easiest of AMC’s shows to catch up with and binge watch even if you don’t subscribe to cable or satellite television.
How to watch The Walking Dead Season 8 Finale
To get AMC without cable, you can tap into a number of live TV streaming services.
DirecTV Now, Sling TV, and fuboTV are among the best ways to watch AMC live. All of these services require an Internet connection because you are live streaming channels online instead of having them routed into your home over a cable cord or satellite feed.
If you’re paying a lot for Internet, or have recently been quoted a high rate, read my guide on how to get Internet without cable at a decent price.
How to stream Season 1 through Season 8 of The Walking Dead
The least expensive way to catch up on Seasons 1 through 8 of The Walking Dead is with a Netflix subscription. Given that there are more Netflix subscribers than cable subscribers in U.S. households, there’s a good chance you already have most of the shows available to you.
Hey listen, I understand not everyone is a Netflix-head. There are plenty of people out there who happily chug along in their TV viewing life with an antenna and an OTA DVR. Nothing wrong with that.
Need to catch up on the first half of Season 9? No problem.
But really, Netflix is the best value to binge watch earlier seasons.
Plans to stream Netflix in HD only costs between $8.99 to $12.99 per month. Netflix works on just about any major streaming device like a Roku or Amazon Fire TV. So even if you signed up for only a few months, your cost would be much less than buying full seasons.
Watch The Walking Dead without cable on Sling TV
Sling TV has the AMC channel in its entry-level channel bundle, called Sling Orange, which costs $25 per month for 30+ channels.
If you want to DVR episodes, the Cloud DVR option is an extra $5 per month. Sling TV does have on-demand content, but I wouldn’t rely on this for catching up or binge watching The Walking Dead. Like I said: right now Netflix currently has the rights to stream Seasons 1 through 6.
Sling TV also has channels like A&E, History Channel, ESPN, Bravo, FS1, FS2, FX, HGTV and both Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild. The Sling Orange bundle has a free 7-day trial without any obligation. Just be sure to cancel just before day 7 rolls around.
If you’re planning on subscribing to Sling TV to take in all of Season 8 of The Walking Dead, then there are a couple of promotions worth considering.
Prepay for two months of service, and you can get a Roku Express. This streaming stick generally retails for $25.
Prepay for three months and you can get a Roku Ultra for only $50. An Ultra would cost you $84 if you bought it on Amazon. With either promotion, you can make your money go a bit further by picking up a streaming device.
The Walking Dead on PlayStation Vue
The entry-level plan for PlayStation Vue is called Access, which gives you AMC and roughly 48 other channels for $44.99 per month. PS Vue works on major streaming devices like Roku. With Access, you can get Animal Planet, ESPN, FX and FXX. Cloud DVR comes with the subscription at no extra cost.
Sony offers a free 5-day trial with no obligation.
The Walking Dead on DirecTV Now
AMC is on all four channel bundles offered by DirecTV Now. So you’ll be able to live stream The Walking Dead no matter what. The entry-level subscription gives you 65+ channels for $40 per month.
Channels in the least expensive bundle include ESPN, FX, HGTV, A&E, and MTV.
DirecTV Now does have on-demand for AMC, which could be useful for catching up with Season 8 as episodes start airing. If you’re an AT&T customer, you can also live stream DirecTV Now channels to your smartphone without getting whacked with huge data fees.
DirecTV Now has a free 7-day trial without any obligation.
fuboTV: Watch The Walking Dead Without Cable
fuboTV recently struck a deal with AMC Networks, which brought AMC, IFC, Sundance TV and BBC America to its sports-first channel lineup. A subscription to the entry-level channel bundle called Fubo Premier gets you 70+ channels. FS1, FS2, NBCSN, CBS, CBS Sports Network, NFL Network, Golf Channel, A&E, History and Travel Channel are included. fuboTV has 80 percent of the regional sports networks offered in the U.S.
fuboTV has 30 hours of Cloud DVR and a “lookback” feature which is similar to an on-demand option for games that aired in the last 72 hours. You can also add Showtime to your subscription for $10.99 per month.
If you try out fuboTV free for 7-days, your first month will be $19.99. The regular rate of $44.99 per month kicks in a month after that.
Philo: Watch The Walking Dead live stream

Watch The Walking Dead Online on YouTube TV
YouTube TV has AMC, but the live streaming service is only available in a small number of cities across the U.S. That’s likely to change later in 2017. For $35 per month, YouTube TV offers 40+ channels, including USA Network, FX and IFC. Right now, you need to use a Chromecast or Airplay via Apple TV to live stream on YouTube TV. But that’s like to change by this fall — maybe even in time for Season 8 – so stay tuned.
You can check out a free trial with YouTube TV if it’s available in your area. YouTube TV will also send you a heads up email once their service becomes available in your area.
Is The Walking Dead on Hulu?
No. The Walking Dead is not available on Hulu. It’s also not available on Hulu with Live TV. That may change at some point. But for now, Netflix has the rights to stream Seasons 1 through 8.

Philo is the best choice for watching The Walking Dead without cable because you can’t beat the price.
