Watch BBC America Live Online
BBC America is a channel you don’t have to miss out on if you’re getting rid of cable. The network is a gateway for popular UK shows like Doctor Who, Orphan Black and Killing Eve.
But you’ll also find decent movies from the U.S. and a regular rotation of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
This guide will quickly outline how you can watch BBC America live without cable using a Roku, Fire TV, Fire stick, Apple TV and iPhones and smartphones.
Watch BBC America Live Stream on Philo
The cheapest way to watch BBC America live is with Philo, a new streaming service that works with Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV. Philo carries 40 networks including BBC America for $16 per month. You can sign up for a free trial of Philo in under a minute using your smartphone number. The free trial lasts a week.
The 40 channels include AMC, Animal Planet, BBC America, Discovery Channel, HGTV, Paramount Network and TLC. Subscribers get unlimited Cloud DVR and a robust on-demand section of movies, shows and concerts.
If you have an iPhone, you can live stream BBC America and all the other channels in your subscription using the Philo app. Let’s say you wanted to catch up on Season 11 of Doctor Who. No problem. Use your Philo credentials to sign in to the BBC America app.
Not only will you find a couple episodes of Doctor Who, you’ll also get all five seasons of Orphan Black, two full seasons of Atlantis and four seasons of Torchwood. I also get a BBC America live stream on my Roku app. So that can come in handy when I’m on the road with my streaming stick.
Being able to sign in to the BBC America mobile app is pretty handy too. You won’t be able to watch a live stream with the Android mobile app, but you can cast episodes to a Chromecast or NVIDIA Shield TV.
I’ve been using Philo for about 10 months now, and it’s one of the most under rated streaming services out there for cutting the cable cord once and for all. You can read my review of Philo to learn more about it.
Sling TV: Watch BBC America Online Without Cable
Sling TV live streams BBC America on both the Orange channel bundle, and Blue channel bundle. Either way, you’re paying $25 per month. It’s just a matter of what else you want for channels besides BBC America.
