How to Live Stream ABC Without Cable TV
The cheapest way to watch ABC is with a TV antenna.
But if you’re not in range of a broadcast tower, watching ABC for free might not be an option.
This cord cutter’s guide will show you how to watch ABC live without cable services like Comcast or satellite TV. I’ll also show you how to live stream ABC sports (like college football) when you don’t have a local ABC channel by using ESPN3, or WatchESPN app.
Streaming ABC online with Hulu with Live TV
For live streaming ABC, Hulu with Live TV will be the best choice for most people because it has more local ABC stations than any other live TV service. Hulu’s Live TV service gets you more than 60 live TV channels for $44.99 per month with 50 hours of Cloud DVR. You’ll be able to stream ABC live alongside national networks like A&E, ESPN, FS1, TNT, Bravo, History, Smithsonian Channel and FX.
Subscribers can stream on up to two devices at once, including your iPhone or Android smartphone when you’re not at home. There’s another part of a Hulu Live TV subscription that adds a lot value compared to competitors.
Subscribers get unlimited access to its full streaming library that includes network TV shows, movies and Hulu Originals. It’s the same on-demand library that customers pay $5.99 and up for. So you’re essentially getting two live streaming services at the same price as many of Hulu’s competitors.
Hulu with Live TV works with Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast and Xbox. You can check out Hulu with Live TV free for a week .
Live ABC on DirecTV Now
DirecTV Now has four channel bundles that costs starting at $40 per month. Each bundle gives you the ability to live stream ABC from an iPhone, Android smartphone, Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV devices.
The entry-level subscription is the best deal. You’ll get 65+ channels, including AMC, HGTV, ESPN, Investigation Discovery and MTV for $40 per month. You can try out DirecTV Now with a free 7-day trial.
Watch ABC Live Stream with PlayStation Vue
With PlayStation Vue, you can watch ABC shows with the cheapest bundle called Access. Subscribers get 48+ channels, including AMC, Animal Planet, Disney Channel and National Geographic for $45 per month. Unlimited Cloud DVR comes with any channel bundle you choose. And PS Vue works on just about any streaming device. Roku, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV all have PlayStation Vue apps. PlayStation Vue allows users to access dozens of TV Everywhere apps.
Being able to live stream ABC through PlayStation Vue may depend on where you live. So it’s best to check out their channel lineup before signing up for a free 5-day trial.
Watch ABC Live on Sling TV
Sling TV is one of the least expensive ways to live stream ABC if you don’t end up using an antenna. But you need to get a $5 “Broadcast Bundle” in addition to the Orange plan in order to watch ABC.
That will come to about $30 per month. Sling Orange costs $25 per month, and has roughly 30 channels including ESPN, AMC, TBS, Travel Channel and IFC. Sling TV offers 50 hours of Cloud DVR, but that costs an extra $5. Before you sign up, use Sling TV’s search tool to find out if ABC is offered in your area.
ABC Live Stream with YouTube TV
YouTube TV offers roughly 50 channels for $40 per month, and you’ll be able to live stream ABC in most markets. There are YouTube TV apps for Roku, Apple TV and a mobile app for Chromecast. You can stream on up to two devices at once.
Watch ABC Sports Live Stream on ESPN 3, WatchESPN
If you don’t have ABC in your channel lineup, you can still watch ABC sports live on ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app. ESPN is actually a subsidiary of ABC.
Hulu with Live TV carries the most local ABC channels than any other streaming service, and has ESPN and ESPN3 in its channel lineup. You can also use your Hulu membership to sign in to the WatchESPN app.
You can do the same with a Sling Orange account, and credentials from PlayStation Vue and YouTubeTV. If you don’t already have the WatchESPN app, you can download it from wherever you get apps for your device (e.g. The Roku Channel Store has the WatchESPN app for free for all Roku devices.)
Watch ABC Live for Free or Cheap
Before you even delve into live streaming ABC, you should check out whether there’s a local station in your area. Head over to an online tool like AntennaWeb or TVfool to see if there’s an ABC broadcast tower near you. These towers transmit digital signals that transmit 720p or 1080i picture quality. So forget about the static-riddled analog signals prior to 2010. This is a HD quality signal coming to you for free. You might not buy an antenna right away, but read over my tips on How to Choose a TV antenna or The Best Indoor TV Antennas when you’re ready for one.

What’s the best way to live stream ABC without cable?
I suggest trying out Hulu with Live TV free for 7-days, especially if you want flexibility with where you’re going to live stream ABC. Subscribers can use a Roku to watch ABC live on their TV at home, or their iPhone when they’re not. You gets you 60+ channels for $44.99 per month, including A&E, ESPN and FOX.
Subscribers get to sign in to the ABC app and a few dozen other TV Everywhere apps, which can come in handy for getting access to on-demand shows or watching on a TV away from home. And you’ll get a large on-demand library of network TV shows and movies from Hulu. So it’s essentially getting two streaming services at the same price that others charge for just live TV.

If you’re on a tight budget, then Sling TV might be a better choice at only $25 per month. Check out Sling TV with a free 7-day trial. Don’t forget that Sling TV includes a Roku Express or RCA antenna when you prepay for two months.
