How to watch TNT without cable

Stream TNT live without cable TV

Streaming TNT without a cable subscription is pretty easy these days.

It’s just a matter of choosing which live TV streaming service is the right fit for you as a cable TV replacement.

My top pick right now is Hulu with Live TV because you’re getting many staples from your cable TV days for $40 per month with 50 hours of Cloud DVR. A few other live TV services cost about the same. But Hulu is unique because you’re also getting access to its entire on-demand library of TV shows, movies and Hulu Originals like “The Handmaid’s Tale”.

You may not agree with how I measure value. Fair enough.

This guide will outline all your options for streaming TNT with popular over-the-top devices like Roku, Apple TV and mobile options, including iPhones and Android smartphones.

Nobody wants to be missing new episodes of “Animal Kingdom” or NBA basketball. The good news is you don’t have to. There are more ways to stream TNT than ever before, and your options are cheaper than paying Comcast, Spectrum or some other cable provider.

I will also show you what’s available on the TNT app, and the TNT website. If you’re looking for a way to binge watch a particular show over the course of a week, you might want to try out a free trial from fuboTV, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue or Hulu with Live TV.

TBS now has comedies ranging from the noir-infused “Search Party” and Samantha Bee’s weekly late-night show. TNT has focused on drama with shows like “Animal Kingdom”, “The Last Ship” and “Good Behavior”. TNT also remains a key channel for sports fans. You will want TNT to watch college basketball and the PGA Championship. And beginning next fall, TNT will carry the UEFA Champions League.

What are the most popular shows on TNT?

Since TNT is focusing on original programming now, you can expect more appealing shows to crop up alongside in-demand sports like NBA and college basketball. Here’s a list of TNT’s top-rated shows.

  • Animal Kingdom
  • Cold Justice
  • Cold Justice: Sex Crimes
  • College basketball
  • Falling Skies
  • Good Behavior
  • Major Crimes
  • Major League Baseball (overflow)
  • March Madness (NCAA Men’s Basketball)
  • Murder in the First
  • NBA Basketball (including NBA All Star Game, NBA Playoffs)
  • PGA Championship
  • Rizzoli & Isles
  • The Alienist
  • The Last Ship
  • The Librarians
  • UEFA Champions League (beginning fall 2018)

Can I live stream TNT shows online?

Sure. You have a couple of options to stream TNT shows. It all really depends on what exactly you’re looking for.

With “Animal Kingdom”, you can currently stream Season 1 and 2 on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon Prime subscribers can watch both seasons without any limits. Amazon has a free 30-day trial of Prime, which gives you scores of on-demand movies, TV shows and free two-day shipping.

Having access to the app can be handy if you’re playing catch up with a certain show. But I wouldn’t rely on it to get me everything I want. TNT also does have a cool feature where users can live stream TNT East and TNT West. But you need some kind of pay-TV subscription to access this feature.

Like a lot of apps, TNT limits what’s available for free, and gives more access to people with pay-TV subscriptions. But you don’t need a cable subscription to companies like Comcast or Spectrum anymore. A couple live streaming services gives you access to TV Everywhere apps as part of a subscription.

Stream TNT on Hulu with Live TV

Hulu’s Live TV package has 60+ live channels that includes TNT, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1. HGTV, National Geographic and Viceland. You can look over Hulu’s local channels offered in your area by punching in your zip code. Hulu currently has more local NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX stations than any other live TV streaming service out there. If you’re a sports fan, having those local stations will be important for baseball, football and soccer. A subscription comes with 50 hours of Cloud DVR to record whatever you want.

You can stream Hulu with Live TV on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android and Chromecast. Subscribers can also use their account to sign in to 35 apps for networks like FOX, History Channel, NBC Sports and Travel Channel. Sorry, you can’t sign in to the TNT app.

Considering that you’re getting the live TV plan and the full catalog of Hulu on-demand library and Hulu Originals like “The Handmaid’s Tale”, it’s unlikely that you’ll run out of things to watch.

You can try Hulu with Live TV free for a week then the service costs $39.99 per month. There’s no contract or hidden fees. You can easily cancel online before the trials ends if you don’t like the service.

Sling TV, a budget choice for live TNT streaming without cable

Sling TV is one of the most popular streaming platforms out there for live TV. You can get a TNT live stream with either one of their channel bundles.

The Sling Orange bundle has 29 channels for $20 per month. It’s definitely the cheapest way to watch The Last Ship, Rizzoli & Isles and any new show on TNT. Comedy Central, EPIX Drive-In, HGTV and TBS are included in the Sling Orange plan.

What’s the best way to watch a TNT live stream online?

Live streaming TNT is a cinch. It’s just a matter of choosing how you want to do it. Here are your best options.

Hulu with Live TV will give you the best value for your money. You’re getting 60+ live channels and 50 hours of Cloud DVR for $40 per month. You can also sign in to about 35 apps, some of which give you live streams of channels. Having the on-demand library at your fingertips means you’ll be able to watch the first seasons of shows like “Atlanta” and “Taboo” before the next season airs, along with Hulu Originals. Check out Hulu with Live TV free for a week.

There’s no contracts or hidden fees. Just cancel online if you don’t like the service before your trial ends.

My runner-up pick is fuboTV for live streaming TNT. You get 80+ channels, local NBC, CBS and FOX alongside FS1, FS2, NBA TV, MSG Network and regional FOX and NBC sports networks. fuboTV has apps for Android TV, Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV. There are solid mobile apps for iPhone and Android smartphones, too. Check out the channel lineup, or a free 7-day trial. Again, there’s no obligation to keep the service after you try it out.

Want the lowest price possible? Then Sling TV is a reliable option. The Sling Orange bundle for $20 per month is the way to go. Try either Sling TV channel bundle free for 7 days. But don’t forget, you can get a Roku Streaming stick or discounted device for prepaying.

Set a reminder on your smartphone if you’re doing a weeklong free trial. That way you can cancel without getting billed if you decide to not keep the service.  Whether you’re looking for a way to watch March Madness or the latest episodes of “Animal Kingdom”, there are plenty of ways to stream TNT without cable.
