fuboTV adds NESN to channel lineup, offers discount to new subscribers
fuboTV announced a multi-year agreement today that will bring NESN (New England Sports Network) to subscribers throughout New England.
NESN will be added to Fubo Premier – its base package of 65-plus live streaming TV channels. The announcement comes days after fuboTV revamped its app for Roku.
It marks a huge win for New England sports fans, while challenging cable and satellite TV providers across New England. fuboTV said in a statement this morning that NESN will be available in Massachusetts, Connecticut (excluding Fairfield County), Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
“We look forward to this relationship with fuboTV, whose innovative platform will prominently feature the Red Sox, Bruins, and all of our sports programming,” said NESN CEO Sean McGrail.
NESN is expected to be added to fuboTV’s roster of channels “in the coming days,” fuboTV said in a statement. Once fuboTV adds NESN to its channel lineup, New England sports fans won’t be forced to stick to their cable subscription anymore to watch the Red Sox or Bruins.
NESNgo, and on-demand included in fuboTV subscription
Following the NESN launch, Fubo Premier will be available to new subscribers in the above markets at $19.99 for the first two months, and $44.99 thereafter. The discount kicks in after new customers sign up for a free 7-day trial.
fuboTV already has a number of local Boston-area channels in its lineup, including NBC, CBS (WBZ), FOX 25 and NBC Sports Boston.
Subscribers will have the ability to watch NESN live and record games on fuboTV’s cloud-based DVR. An on-demand feature on fuboTV – called Lookback – will also have recently-aired NESN programming.
Fans will be able to eventually use their fuboTV login and password to access NESN programming via the NESNgo website and apps. Subscribers will also be able to access NESN content via video-on-demand (VOD).
“NESN is one of the country’s top rated regional sports networks, featuring two of sports’ most iconic and storied teams, the Red Sox and Bruins,” said fuboTV CFO Joel Armijo. “We could not be more excited to be one of the first OTT providers to bring this must-watch content to New England sports fans.”
In addition to approximately 150 Red Sox games and over 70 Bruins games each year, fuboTV subscribers will get access to live regional college sports, including ACC football and basketball, college hockey with Hockey East action and the annual Beanpot Tournament, along with up to eight hours per day of sports news coverage for New England sports fans.
