National Cut the Cord Day promotion can get you a free Winegard antenna
UPDATE: The free antenna promotion is over, but you can get a $20 off coupon for a Winegard antenna in the box when you buy a TCL S Series 4K TV. Read my review of this TCL Roku TV to learn more about its performance.
You can get a free Winegard antenna when you buy a 4K Roku TV by TCL between July 1 and July 9.
The promotion by the two companies is in recognition of National Cut The Cord Day on July 7.
“As the number of cord-cutters continues to grow — with cost savings and viewing flexibility playing a bigger role in entertainment choices — National Cut the Cord Day is the right time for TCL to help make the decision to cancel cable a lot easier,” said Chris Larson, senior vice president at TCL.
This is the second promotion that TCL and antenna-maker Winegard have teamed up to do this month.
Here’s how to get the free Winegard antenna.
Buy an S-Series 4K TCL Roku TV™ on Amazon between July 1 and 9, and you can add a Winegard FlatWave Micro Indoor Antenna (FL-2000) into your cart for free.
Just enter the code: CUTTHECORD to get the antenna for free.
This is an even better deal than the one that the two companies offered earlier in the month when customers could get $20 off from the retail price of a Winegard FlatWave
TCL recently launched its new S-Series televisions, which brings the Roku TV platform together with 4K UHD picture performance and High Dynamic Range (HDR) for eye popping detail.
I haven’t had the chance to try out these Roku TVs. But they have garnered some very positive reviews from The Verge and other online publications.
Why HDR is more important than 4K
If I were looking for an inexpensive 4K TV, I would want to make sure it has HDR. There have been a number of articles in recent months explaining why HDR is more important than 4K when it comes to overall picture quality. Even some TV executives tend to agree with that assessment.
These new Roku TVs have HDR, so you’re getting what’s considered the new premium for an exceptional picture.
Roku TVs have lots of streaming entertainment right out of the box. You get access to more than 5,000 streaming channels and 450,000+ movies and TV episodes through the built-in Roku operating system.
The S-Series sets have fast dual-band wireless connections if you can’t string an Ethernet cord to your TV set. There are three HDMI ports for accessories like gaming consoles.
Back to the antenna for a moment. Winegard says the Flatwave has a 30-mile range for HDTV reception. It’s has a dual band optimized VHF/UHF element for maximum signal capture.
TCL says the S405 series of Roku TVs is being offered in four screen sizes: 43” (43S405), 49″ (49S405), 55″ (55S405) and 65″ (65S405).
