How to get the best price for a Roku Streaming Stick

The best price for Roku Streaming Stick is with Sling TV

The best price for the Roku Streaming Stick isn’t with any online retailer at the moment.

It’s with Sling TV.

Retailers usually charge about $49.99 for the Roku Streaming Stick (3600R). But you can currently pick one up for only $20 while enjoying some sweet cable channels from Sling TV in the process.

All you need to do is sign up for a month of the Sling Orange plan and pre-pay $20. You get a free Roku Streaming Stick.

This particular deal is one that Sling TV rolled out months ago, but it hasn’t been well advertised.

I just got my Roku Streaming Stick in the mail yesterday so I’m spreading the word while the deal is still valid. The Roku Streaming Stick is a great device, one that David Katzmaier at CNET called, “the best value in streaming-video hardware, period.”

I’ve been a PlayStation Vue customer for more than a year now, and I have no plans to drop my subscription. But scooping up a Sling TV subscription for a month is a no brainer. I can enjoy a few channels that PS Vue doesn’t carry like A&E, Viceland and History Channel. I’ve set the calendar in my smartphone to cancel around Day 28 so I don’t get hit with automatic payment for the second month.

Skip the Roku Express deal. Get the best price for Roku Streaming Stick instead.

Over the last week, there have been deals on Roku Express, a less expensive cousin of the 3600R model. The problem is it’s slower.

The Roku Streaming Stick has a quad-core processor, the Roku Express doesn’t. You can steam 4K content with the Roku Streaming Stick, but not with the Express.

Both Roku sticks give you a remote control and gives you access to 350,000+ movies and TV episodes with the Express. It’s basically a portal for free content and movies or shows you can individually rent.

I’m a huge fan of SlickDeals and check out their site daily. The band of deal-seekers sharing the best prices on hardware of all sorts is really unmatched.

There was a posting about the Roku Express, the slower, less expensive version that was posted on Saturday. Users quickly weighed in saying that Sling TV was offering a better deal.

Sling TV appears to have kept this deal for the Roku Streaming Stick open since about December. They also have a few similar offers where new customers can get a discounted Roku Premiere+ or Apple TV when they pre-pay for a subscription.

I still prefer a streaming device that has an Ethernet port, especially for streaming live cable channels on services like Sling TV or fuboTV. If you already own an Android TV box or Fire TV for your living room setup, a Roku Streaming Stick is still a great option for a spare bedroom or other TV in your home.
